Check-Raising

Just few days ago, I played with some friends. There is this one friend of mine who said that it’s not allowed to raise if you have already checked. I’m confused, most especially that almost all sites I’ve visited seem to allow check-raising.

What’s your idea about check-raising?

Check-raising is not only acceptable; it is a tool that ever poker player should develop. Many players in the past frowned on check raising and it was even outlawed in some casinos. Now, check-raising is a normal part of all poker. Some home games may choose not to allow the check-raise. I personally would not play in such a game.
