Role of an Ace

Hi there!

I don’t know how do you rank two straights and in particular, two low-end straights when one has an Ace used as a one and the other is not, for an instance A2345 and 23456. Any idea? I know you can help me with this.

Also, is Ace always the high card or just depends on how it is used at the table?

Thank you very much for your time.

Steve

Steve,

In the example below, the six high straight is actually the higher ranking. The other player has a wheel. In the wheel the aces is the equivalent to the number 1. An ace is always high, except for when it is played in a wheel.
